K11 Art House: A New Era of Cinema Experience

Revolutionizing Cinema Spaces with Multifaceted Lifestyle Integration

The K11 Art House, a project that commenced in 2018 and completed in 2019, is a testament to the innovative spirit of Oft Interiors Ltd. Inspired by the multicultural living area model of K11 Musea, the design team envisioned a future for cinema that goes beyond simple consumption. The goal was to create a space that integrates social interaction, shopping, dining, and art, thereby enhancing the overall cinema experience.

The uniqueness of the K11 Art House lies in its theme - a snow mountain residence. This is the first of its kind in Asia, a bold step in the realm of "design & new retail". The Swiss snow mountain theme is a deliberate contrast to the bustling city of Hong Kong, aiming to awaken the residents' yearning for a "natural life". This design strategy is a reflection of the city's open and inclusive nature, where diverse cultures blend and grow.

The design process involved a careful selection of materials including marble, aluminum, fabric, carpet, glass, coaching, and painting, spread over an area of 6034 sqm. The design team, comprising of CM Jao, Ken Cheung, Shanny Cheung, and Tobey Ngo, introduced at least five consumption formats in K11 Art House. These include a music store, open bar, exhibition space, performance center, and personalized acquaintance social service, constructing a composite consumption scene.

The design team faced the challenge of transitioning the traditional entertainment space, represented by the cinema, into a new era of "new retail". By repeating architectural elements and combining previously unrelated materials, they achieved a new sensory balance, remodeling humanity and nature. This innovative approach earned the K11 Art House a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
